Daemyung Killer Whales

The Daemyung Killer Whales are the newest team to join the Asia ice hockey league. They play at Seonhak International Ice Rink 선학국제빙상장 in Incheon, South Korea.

Coaches

2017

Kevin Constantine was introduced as the new head coach of the Killer Whales (3 year contract), after spending the previous four seasons heading the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. His 32 years of coaching experience should greatly benefit the young team.

2016- March 2017

Chi-Young “Benedict” Song 송치영 was the Killer Whales first head coach. He played a physical and gritty four seasons (2005-2009) in the Asia League with Kangwon Land and High1. Song was an assistant coach with High1 for two seasons (2010-2012), a scout with Anyang Halla in 2013-14 and an assistant coach and coach at Korea university from 2014.

His tenure with the new team went through expected growing pains as many players were just out of college and had limited international experience.

Players

2016-17 On the ice, Daemyung is lead by experienced defenseman (Captain) Kim Bum-Jin and (Assistant Captain) Oh Hyon-Ho. Other vets include defenseman Oh Kwang-Sik, goalie Eum Hyun-Sung,( who came out of a three year retirement), and enforcer (Assistant Captain) Park Tae-Hwan (who also came out of semi-retirement).

The Daemyung Killer Whales are expected to be a physical and low scoring team as the roster consists of eleven rookies. Import players Brett Parnham (an Asia League vet) and Adam Estoclet will be expected to drive the offense, while goalie Tyler Weiman will get starting duties in net.

2017-18

Brett Parnham and Adam Estoclet combined to score 54 of the 107 goals in 2016-17 and will lead the team this year as well.
