Korean Men’s National Team begin Olympic Season with Losses

The Korean Men’s National Team (MTN) didn’t get off to the best of starts as they returned to their preparations for the Pyeongchang Olympics.

The MNT took on HC Admiral of the KHL in two exhibition games at Admiral’s home rink in Vladivostok.

Game 1 took place on 7/29 and ended in a 5-3 loss for Korea, despite being 3-0 up 5min into the second period, Korea couldn’t hold on to this lead and eventually succumbed to the KHL Eastern Conference Quarter-Finalists.

Game 2 took place on 7/30. This also resulted in a loss for Team Korea, with Admiral winning 3-2 on the day. Admiral came out with almost a completely different roster to the previous game, with Korea also adding a few players to their lineup who hadn’t played the day before.

This game was purely a workout for the native Korean players. None of the Korean naturalized North American players took part in either game.

Next up for the Korean MNT is the Mountfield Cup in the Czech Republic. This 4 team round robin tournament begins on 8/2  (8/3 KST) where Korea will take on Sparta Prague, Pardubice and HK Mountfield
