The Dragon open a six game road trip to Korea 10/1-10/10. They head to Incheon to face the Daemyung Killer Whales (10/1,2,4) in a battle of the Asia League basement. The Following weekend the play High1.

The Daemyung Killer Whales are coming off a hard fought series with the Nikko Icebucks that saw them pickup their first regulation win. The post game celebration has to be seen to be seen to believed. Captain Kim Bum-Jin appears to have another career in the works after hockey.



High1 High1 has two games remaining in Japan before returning home for a week off. 10/1 they play the Cranes and 10/2 against the Eagles.

Hashimoto Ryo 橋本 僚 opened the scoring with his 1st for the Eagles with help from Obara Daisuke 小原 大輔 and Domeki Masato 百目木 政人 midway through the first period.

However, the lead lasted mere minutes as Kim Ki-Sung 김기성 scored his league leading 12th goal on a 5 on 3 power play assisted by his brother,  Kim Sang-Wook 김상욱 who recorded his career 250th point on the play.

The game stayed deadlocked until Kim Ki-Sung, Kim Sang-Wook and Mike Testwuide teamed up mid-2nd for Ki-Sung’s 13th at 31:56.

Alex Plante scored his 4th at 34:17 on a 5 on 4. Assisting on the play  were Kim Ki-Sung and Kim Won-Jun 김원준 with his second assist of the game.

The Eagles applied pressure late in the third as Matt Murley scored his 4th with the assistance of closed out the scoring Haga Yosuke 芳賀 陽介 and Ryan Caldwell.

Matt Dalton 맷 달튼 made 32 saves for his 12th win while Onoda Takuto 小野田 拓人 made 37 stops for his second loss of the year.

The Cranes swarmed High1 in the first with a 16-4 shot advantage but didn’t score until the last two minutes when Jeff LoVecchio ジェフ・ラベッキオ picked of a D to D pass and went in alone, going five hole for his 5th on rookie goalie Park Kye-Hoon 박계훈.

The second period was a more balanced period as the teams traded 10 shots each, but High1 fired two in under a minute.


Yu Shin-Chul 유신철 scored his first career goal with help from Tyler Brickler 타일러 브리클러 and Lee Yu-Won 이유원. 54 seconds later Kwon Tae-An 권태안 buried a rebound for his 3rd.

The Cranes opened the third quickly. Shigeno Shunsuke 重野 駿佑 scored his 1st 1:35 into the third.

The period saw a revolving door on the penalty box as High1 had four power plays and Nippon had two. Ben Walter ベン ウォルター of the Cranes scored the only man advantage goal at 50:37 and Nishiwaki Masahito 西脇 雅仁 finished it off 59 seconds after with his 4th.

High1 goalie Park Kye-Hoon played well in loss stopping 37 of 41 shots.

INOUE MITSUAKI 井上 光明 appeared his 225 career game in a 19 save performance for the win.

2 Games Tonight and Possible Milestones

The Oji Eagles and Anyang Halla  rematch after their first meeting last night resulted in a 5-2 Halla victory. Game time is at 6:30 at Tomakomai.


High1 looks for momentum after last nights 2-1 win against the Cranes. They meet again at 6:30 tonight in Kushiro.

Asia League 3 games tonight 9/27

The Oji Eagles put their 4-0 record on the line vs 10-1 Anyang Halla. Oji is only undefeated team remaining.
High1 looks to end a five five game losing streak when they take on the Nippon Paper Cranes. With a win the Cranes can move into 6th spot ahead of High1.
In the final game of the night, the Daemyung Killer Whales look for their second consecutive win after climbing out of the basement with a 6-3 against the Nikko Icebucks 9/25. The 5th place Icebucks can hold on to fifth spot with a win tonight.
