ASIA LEAGUE TEAM OFFICIALS MEET IN TOKYO TO DISCUSS EXPANSION AND IMPORT PLAYERS
Team representatives and Asia League officials concluded a two day meeting yesterday in Tokyo to discuss the future of the league. A plan to add two Chinese teams for the 2016/17 has been pushed back to 2017/18 as the the unnamed candidates failed to meet league criteria. With the addition of two teams the league would have been been divided into two conferences.

The increase in the limit of import players and the changing status of Russian players were also discussed along with the general management of the league and sports marketing.
